Day 1
Upon landing at Enontekio Airport in the far north of Finnish Lapland you will be directed to your coach for the approximately 55 minute transfer to Karesuando, your base for the duration of your trip. The scenic route takes you through ancient Sami lands of forests and frozen lakes, a picture-perfect journey with the chance of seeing herds of reindeer gathered by the trees. You will collect your thermal suits and boots that will be your protection against the Arctic climate along the way before continuing to your accommodation. Once you have checked into your hotel and settled into your room, there will be a short welcome meeting hosted by your holiday representative who will give you all the information you need for your Lapland break.

Day 2
The day begins with a delicious hot breakfast before heading off on your first adventure. The exciting husky experience allows you time to learn a little about these amazing dogs before you board your sled and speed through the frozen countryside pulled along by these amazing animals. This will be followed by a hot lunch, from there, you will be given the opportunity to explore the area or enjoy the snow and make use of the toboggans supplied.

Day 3
Today is the day you have been waiting for, your search for Santa day will begin a snowmobile safari. This is an adventure loved by adults and children alike and after a short minibus transfer you will begin your adventure. Your thrilling snowmobile expedition will take you along a predetermined route through the forest and snowy countryside driving at a speed that is comfortable for you. Children are pulled in a sleigh behind the guides snowmobile.

Following lunch, it’s time to search for Santa. Cosily tucked into your reindeer sleigh you will meander across the frozen land and through the towering pine trees to Santa’s top secret location – perhaps only special reindeer know the way to his cabin?
Your private meeting will see each child getting a chance to talk to Santa and he will have a small gift for every child.

Day 4
After breakfast, you will have the day free! You can organise some optional excursions if you wish although we also thoroughly recommend exploring this quaint village which sits half in Finland and half in Sweden. A short snowy stroll will take you to the border and a crossing the road bridge over the Muonio River will see you in Swedish Karesuando and a different time zone. Children love this as they feel they are time travelling!
Lunch will be taken at your hotel and again you will have the afternoon to explore.
One thing you simply must do during your time in Karesuando is look up to the skies because you are situated in a dark sky area where there is little to no light pollution. If the conditions are perfect and the Aurora Borealis makes an appearance this is the place to be but even if they don’t appear the stars shine so much brighter, and you may even spot the MilkyWay!.

Day 5
Waking up in Lapland is an amazing feeling but it’s time to say goodbye to this wonderful land for now!
After a hearty breakfast it’s time to check out of your room before making the most of the time you have left here. You could join an optional excursion, take the time for a last minute photo opportunity in the stunning surroundings of Karesuando or simply make the most of the beautiful deep snow all around you.
After a tasty lunch it’s time to head to the airport and your flight home. It’s time to say ‘Hei Hei’ to Finland!

THE HUSKIES, REINDEER, SKIDOOS, SNOW, SANTA... EVERYTHING WAS JUST BRILLIANT

"First of all, this was the best trip we could ever have imagined, and totally exceeded our expectations. For the record, our kids were 10 and 5.

We booked our holiday through SantaClausTrips - a chap called Brian - and we could not be any more delighted that we followed his advice.

There was apparently a complaint from a guest the night before we left that the variety of food was poor, and not enough fresh food was available for the kids.

I mean ... wow! Here we are 140km inside the Arctic Circle, with at least a foot of snow covering everywhere across a rather barren land, and somebody was expecting fresh fruit and caviar!

Enough of the nonsense, this was simply brilliant. Ian, the hotel manager, was the most visible of hotel managers, ever! Sue on reception could not have been more helpful. Our Transun rep - Greta - was warming, friendly and bloody helpful.

We stayed in a log cabin, which as we were told, was small, but warm, comfortable, and all that we needed for a 4-night stay in Wonderland. To be frank, we only used it to snooze and sleep in, oh and have the occasional Sauna, but just the romance of staying in a log cabin in Lapland was great. Our photos are brill.

The excursions that were included in the package ('Sleep in Heavenly Peace' package) were exceptional, and in hindsight, probably all that we needed. We did book up a couple of extra excursions, but with all the fun available at the hotel, anybody looking to book their holiday for 2011 will probably need to strongly consider whether they book additional excursions or not.

Santa was fab. We all tugged his beard, and he was the real Santa. The private family trip to see Santa is the most amazing family moments to treasure, and completely to die for.

The Huskies, the reindeer, the skidoos, the snow, Santa - everything was just brilliant.

From the kid's eyes, this was simply perfect and magical all rolled into a 5 day stay!"
