As for the hotel itself, it’s home to a stylish restaurant that offers up panoramic views through its floor-to-ceiling windows. The à la carte menu is one of the best in Rovaniemi, and features Lappish favourites like smoked fish and a wide variety of meats. There’s also a buffet section, with plenty in the way of international dishes. After-dinner drinks, meanwhile, come courtesy of the lobby bar. You can even take your beer or wine up to the hotel’s rooftop terrace for a spot of star-gazing.

Another great thing about this place is all the extras it offers. There’s a cinema where little ones can watch a film while tucking in to a tub of popcorn, plus there's even an ice maze.

In terms of accommodation, you can choose a room in the main hotel building or opt for a traditional log cabin a little further away. The former are kitted out with soft lighting and wooden floors, and come with mod-cons like satellite TVs, hairdryers and minibars. The cottages, meanwhile, are tucked in to snowy woodland, so they feel nicely secluded. Best of all, they’re really cosy and homely inside – cue wood-panelled walls, blazing fireplaces and well-equipped kitchens.
